RockCAM follows the language of the NX installation it is running in. It does not ship its own language selector: it uses the same translation model as NX, so whatever language NX is set to, RockCAM is set to as well.
By default, NX — and therefore RockCAM — runs in English. To run in another language, you point NX at a translation set through Windows environment variables.
How the language is selected #
RockCAM reads two environment variables at start-up.
| Variable | What it does |
|---|---|
UGII_LANG | The language NX runs in, for example simpl_chinese or english |
UGII_LOCALIZATION_CUSTOMIZED_FILES | The folder holding RockCAM’s own translation files, normally %UGII_USER_DIR%/translations |
Both are normally written by the RockCAM installer.
The Windows “Environment Variables” dialog with UGII_LANG and UGII_LOCALIZATION_CUSTOMIZED_FILES present.
If they are missing, add them by hand: open System Properties → Advanced → Environment Variables, create the missing entry, and save. Take the value of UGII_LOCALIZATION_CUSTOMIZED_FILES from the translations folder inside your RockCAM install folder.
UGII_LANG is usually already present, because NX writes it during its own installation.
Running NX 10 in a non-English language #
On early releases of NX 10, the method above may not take effect and the interface stays in English. In that case you merge RockCAM’s translation file into the NX translations yourself.
- Open
translations\simple_chinese\none_simpl_chinese_nlm.txtinside your RockCAM install folder with Notepad and copy the whole file.
The file open in Notepad, with the content selected.
- Open the matching NX folder, for example
D:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 10.0\LOCALIZATION\translations\simpl_chinese. Use the path of your own NX installation.
The NX LOCALIZATION translations folder for the language you want.
- Open
none_simpl_chinese_nlm.txtin that folder with Notepad and paste what you copied at the end of the file.
The NX translation file with the RockCAM content appended at the bottom.
- Save the file in place, then restart NX.
For the same reason as above, simpl_chinese is the folder for Simplified Chinese — substitute the folder for whichever language you are setting up.
